If Only...

Whoops, forgot to breathe.

Not a lot of time for a post today, as I'm having to prepare for my upcoming, insane weekend.

As I've explained before, my family is large and close-knit (family tree here), so any sort of celebratory occasion becomes a major event.  That's why there are upwards of 30 people attending my baby niece's (Cousin L) first birthday party tomorrow.

So, once I finish my work-week and my weekend starts, here is my schedule:

Saturday - 6:30 a.m.:  Wake up, and help the boys get ready to head to Durham, where my hubby and son are walking in the March of Dimes 5K.  It seems an appropriate thing for them to support, considering they're a former preemie and father of a preemie.  But, while I'm helping them get ready, I have to get ready, too, because...

Saturday - 9:00 a.m.:  Leadership meeting for church.  Of course, I won't be able to stay the whole time for this, and I'll have to leave straight from here to go to the park, because...

Saturday - 11:00 a.m.:  Help my mom and sister get the reserved area at the park ready for L's birthday party.  Of course, the party starts around noon, and my major hope is that my boys, who will be driving straight back from their 5K walk in Durham, won't be late.

Fortunately, around 2:00 or so when we wrap up and get home from the party, I don't have any major plans for Saturday night.  That doesn't mean, however, that something won't come up (usually dinner with my parents, or with friends).  And I really need to take it easy Saturday night, because Sunday is going to be a full day as well.  I get to church at 9:00 in the morning to meet with the other people serving in children's church, then I go to service, then I serve in the second service.  Usually.

But this week, my husband and I are getting baptized after first service (schedule and weather permitting).  I am so, so excited that we're taking this step together, and with our church family.  However, I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to get out of first service, change clothes, get baptized, dry off and change clothes again, and then get into children's church on-time.  I don't exactly want to be rushed during my baptism, since that's kind of a big event.  And, logically, I know that the other people serving in children's church will have everything covered without me in there.  But I'm also someone who likes to plan things out, and hates being late, so I keep coming up with crazy schemes, like just wearing the clothes I'm going to be baptized in under my other clothes so I can change faster.  Anyway, I know it will be fine and that I have nothing to worry about.
