Quick and dirty.

No big post this morning, as my routine has been somewhat thrown-off.  My son came home "sick" (I swear he fakes it) from daycare yesterday, and I can't take him back until 24-hours is up.  So today I'm stuck cleaning runny diapers and trying not to think about how much work is piling up in my in-box.

A few highlights from yesterday:

Watched "Horton Hears a Who" and it was adorable and had great voice-casting.

Practiced my new couponing skill and took advantage of Harris Teeter's triple-coupon week.  Got $50 worth of much-needed groceries for $20, so I would call that a success.

Found out that an easy way to relax and entertain my son at the same time is to play PS3 and let him hold an unplugged controller so he thinks he's playing.

And a couple of lowlights...

The baby turning a sports water bottle upside down over the bed and yelling, "It's raining!"

Him coming to me upset and asking, "Where kitty go?  See kitty?  Kitty play?"  I found the cat for him, and he immediately tried to sit on the poor thing.  "I ride it!"
"No baby, you can't ride him.  Hurt kitty."
"Oh.  Where doggy go?"

How to determine if you should take a sick day...

My baby has felt really crappy all weekend, and Sunday night his fever shot up to 102.  My husband and I reached a consensus that, if he didn't feel better in the morning, he was staying home.  Unfortunately, I had projects at work that absolutely required I be there, so my hubby got to stay home all day with the baby.

I can't complain too much, since they cleaned the whole house.  But I always hate being at work when my little guy is not feeling well.  He still wasn't doing great last night, and he was just feeling well enough this morning to go to school.  (He's been over 24 hours without a fever now.)

But my hubby and I talked about it and, since he got yesterday off, if the preschool calls saying my son needs to come home, I'm going to get him today.  This got me to thinking about how we validate sick days.  Take the test below to determine if you should call in to work today.

A chance to help people who are hurting this Easter...

Hey guys, I don't normally do stuff like this, but this is something that's really been laid on my heart, so bear with me...

I'm relatively new at my current job (a little over 6 months) and just got an e-mail yesterday that, every year around this time, we collect stuffed bunnies, chicks, lambs, and other animals to give to sick kids and people on pediatric and geriatric hospital wards.  Per hospital policy, the plush toys have to be new, with the tags still attached, to be accepted for donation (to lessen risk of germs and infection).  Last year the people at my work's campus donated 1,316 stuffed animals.

And that is an awesome amount.  But I know that there are a lot more people than that who are suffering in these hospital wards.  Wouldn't it be nice to brighten their day with something as simple as a little stuffed animal?

This is where you come in.  I would like any and all interested readers to please contact me regarding stuffed animal donation.  It's really easy to contribute.  For my part, I just went to my local Tuesday Morning and cleaned them out of their "Easter" (bunny/chick/lamb) animals.  They sell decent sized stuffed animals for only around $5.

And, to further encourage you, everyone who donates will receive a free gift from the 8PP Store.  I really want to help make this year's Bunny Drive amazing for sick kids and the elderly.  Please contact me if you're interested.
